I finally got some time to work on the gnome shell extension to add a pomodoro timer to the top panel. I used the vanilla version available here and added some features that might be useful to me and others:
1. Choose to show either Time Remaining or Time Elapsed
2. Configure timer and break lengths
3. Reset Counters
4. Show Alert Messages when sessions are completed.
